now.. i have been wanting this necklace since i started working with this designer - a little over two years now... but I'm always ordering things for my clients and waiting to see if i see one that is more "me".. but this beading is soooo me.. random.. That's the beauty of these.. they are all about you.. this is the 30x30mm tile.. a different image can be on each side.. i have a few of the baby, but none of my big kids on the same tile, so i thought why not? and they are much more affordable than you think...many of my clients purchase these and then change the photo tiles out when we have new sessions.. such a cool thing.. keep them in mind..

this was a very difficult week.. the most emotionally draining i've had in a long time. as many of you know, i volunteer with NILMDTS. A wonderful organization that helps grieving families deal with the loss of an infant.
it amazes me how life just stops. how fragile life is. how your whole life can change in just moments.
makes you realize how your problems are just so insignificant..

the boys mom, katy, has ordered a HUGE canvas Gallery Wrap of this and a few others.. and last night.. i just kept dreaming about this image.. they are cute as can be aren't they? Connor, the lad in front, was waiting for me to get another imaginary light saber out... CANNOT wait for the beach session..
i will have to post a photo of the walls after these get up.. i'm hoping it looks as awesome as it did in my dream.. we also did a wall of framed portraits from a session last summer.. omagosh, those look fantastic! i mean.. i WISH i had images of my kids like these..

totally off topic here.. but i'm sure we all remember the plane that landed in the Hudson in January.. any recollection of the crew names?
i am a huge fan of Garrison Keillor and finally have had time to listen to some of my podcasts.. this one just stopped me.. it's wonderful.. if you are on itunes, search for "pilot" by Garrison Keillor.. if not, here's a link that will get you to the same.. http://odeo.com/episodes/23908117-Pilot-by-Garrison-Keillor-and-the-Guy-s-All-Star-Shoe-Band

each session i do i really enjoy getting to know the families.. i spend a great deal of time with each family during the session and after.. and i love this part... the fact that you invite me to your homes, over for dinner is just an amazing perk to this.. i just love getting to know you all. and i feel it helps me be a better photographer of your families. those of you who are my clients, know i will come to your home and go through your proofs, help you decide on wall collections or have you over to my home to view samples, framing options - whatever you need. i don't want this to change - i want working with me to be a great experience from start to finish - not a "thanks for your purchase, goodbye", but more the feeling like when you shop in a small boutique.
for those of you who do not know, i have three small children... while very rarely does my personal life interfere with my business, i want to make sure the reverse does not happen.. because of this.. and the boutique style and attention i strive to give to each of you, i am making a few changes.
i will only be taking 4-5 on location sessions each month.. and consequently, am booking those fast! newborn sessions i will always make room for if possible.. and i keep a waiting list if cancellations come up.
another change will be studio sessions. and that i will have them! Among other things, look for school portraits - and not the normal goofy grinned, hair out of place, strange background kind.. those will be offered in April and September.
as much as i love being a part of weddings.. i just can't afford the time that goes in to wedding coverage. i sooo enjoy every aspect of what i do and really feel that the connection with children and families is really my heart. i know of many great wedding photographers with a similar style to mine, so please let me know if you'd like a referral. June 13th will be my last wedding..
thank you so much for taking the time to check the blog.. i love getting your feedback be it on here or by emails.. i am so excited about the changes and am looking forward to it all..

i tell you, this seminar i went to last week was so eye opening... i'd been seeing my business as tiny tot photography, but was totally forgetting that parents will still want their kids photographed at all those great milestones along the way.. those first five years the kids change soooo much. my oldest turned five last year, and there was just something that broke my heart about having a five year old.. but, finally i did feel like i was officially a mom.. like no longer practicing at it, but finally a full fledged member of the mom club.. gosh, i remember the days of taking him out in the car seat and thinking, OMG how can i go grocery shopping with this baby??? and then i'd see a mom who looked so together and cute.. and her kids all cute and clean.. and I'd think.. HOW??.. now I'm not saying this is us now when we go out, but i feel like i have a good groove with the mom thing.. and it only took five years!! (please say nothing if you see me out with my son in a clone trooper costume, or my middle daughter with 17 hair bows - just smile and think - she's making it through today!)
oh, back to this.. sorry.. i get sooo carried away sometimes.

i love photographing this little girl.. emma has the most gorgeous clothes - i mean, really, i need her mom to shop for me. emma takes a while to warm up to me, but now that i know her love for my little pony, i think i have it figured out! i loved seeing her smile this time. our last session there were so many gnats and commotion we had a very serious looking session.. this one was full of genuine smiles (thanks to mom and dad's knowledge of my little pony songs and other tricks).. there are so many to choose from, here are a few...
i love this one..
hope you love Emily and Keith!
off to watch Survivor with my big wonderfully behaved children
